Overview of 3M™ Abrasives for Collision Repair - Key Questions and Answers for the Body Shop

There are so many different types of abrasive materials - what is the best product for each tool in the bodyshop?
Use with Random Orbital Sanders:
- Flexible Foam Abrasive Discs are a versatile blending product that can be used wet or dry.
- 260L Purple Film Discs for removing defects in paint (levelling orange peel, removing dust nibs or runs).
- Trizact Foam Discs 443SA help refine the finest sanding scratches ahead of the polishing process.
Hand sanding – What products can be used to sand a car by hand?
- Grippy Sanding Cloths provide excellent abrasive performance, while the grippy backing material enables superb handling, even when used wet. These are highly conformable and great for sanding hard to reach areas on parts such as bumpers.
- Flexible Abrasive Hand Sheets are a thin, flexible film-backed abrasive which can be used wet or dry, by hand or on a tool (thanks to the hookit backing).
- Flexible Foam Abrasive Discs can be effectively used by hand on panel edges and hard to reach areas.
- Scotch-Brite Materials are versatile solutions for finishing or cleaning tasks.
