Take a safety moment in your workplace this October

While a safety incident can happen in a moment and in any workplace, a moment’s forethought can prevent harm.

This year, during National Safe Work Month, commit to taking a safety moment every day in your workplace. This could be as simple as spending five minutes every morning talking with your team about the hazards and risks in your workplace, and how to prevent harm.

Noise is everywhere and much of it can be harmful to your hearing. Damage your hearing and life may never sound the same. Thousands of workers are potentially exposed to hearing hazards every day.

Symptoms of Hearing Loss include:

• Buzzing or other unusual noises in your ear
• No longer able to hear low/high frequency sounds
• Difficulty hearing and understanding a conversation
• Sounds have become muffled

Fact: Even common sounds you hear at work or home can contribute to long term hearing loss and other health risks. Over time, noise at or above 85 dBA can damage hearing and cause ringing in the ears. Reduce these sound levels by using hearing protection in loud environments.
