    • The Traffic Safety Systems Division of 3M first began in the late 1930's when 3M pioneered the world's first retro-reflective sheeting. Since then, 3M has remained at the leading edge of traffic safety innovation worldwide combining comprehensive systems and services with high performance materials to provide visibility and safety on the roads. 3M Australia is excited to announce the release of the 3830 series, High Intensity Prismatic Reflective Sheeting for roadwork signs. This series is now available in white, yellow and fluorescent orange.

Brightness and quality are just as important for temporary traffic signs as for permanent signage. Roadwork zones are one of the most dangerous sections of roads for both workers and motorists. In fact, people can be up to five times more likely to be injured or killed when travelling through a road work zone1. These zones often force motorists to make quick and unexpected decisions due to temporary lane closures and diversions, leading to confusion which can potentially have devastating consequences.

The visibility of roadwork zone traffic signs is critical in helping drivers safely navigate through these unfamiliar and potentially hazardous areas. Motorists therefore rely on effective signage and markings to help them navigate safely through roadwork zones. Highly visible reflective signage made from the 3M's 3830 series is essential to alert drivers of danger faster and earlier.

3M guarantee the performance of the 3830 series sheeting which meet or exceed the following AS/NZS 1906.1:2007 classes:

      3830 White High Intensity Prismatic™ – Class 1

      3831 Yellow High Intensity Prismatic™ – Class 1W

      3824 Fluorescent orange High Intensity Prismatic™ – Class 1W

    • The 3830 range also contains embossing, as illustrated below, which will repeat regularly across and down each roll of reflective product. The benefits of this change include peace of mind through easy identification of the sheeting manufacturer.

Advantages of 3M’s 3830 Series include:

3M’s High Intensity Prismatic Sheeting reduces VOC air emissions by 97%, energy consumption by 77% and solid waste by 46% compared to traditional reflective sheeting manufacturing processes.

Outstanding visibility during the day, twilight and night for increased awareness of upcoming roadwork zones.

3M also offers a range of sheeting for many applications offering you a complete range of high quality reflective products, for every application meet or exceed all relevant Australian Standards. Please refer to the below table that summarises recommended material selection for common road signs.
