3M™ Nextel™ Roving 720 consists of continuous filament ceramic fibers and is available in 1,500, and 3,000 deniers. Designed to withstand continuous use temperatures of up to 2200oF (1204oC), Nextel™ Roving 720 is considered a structural fiber, and used in applications requiring high tensile strength. Available served and un-served, and with several sizing options.

3M™ Nextel™ Roving 720 is comprised of 720 continuous filament ceramic oxide fibre. The roving styles are 1500, 3000 and 10000 denier. This material is designed to maintain strength while withstanding continuous high temperatures. Nextel roving 720 is ideal as a fiber reinforcement for extremely high temperature composites. This roving can be used as an input material to make textiles to meet user needs. 3M Nextel Ceramic Fibres represent a major advancement in refractory fibre technology. The roving can be used to make a variety of ceramic textiles including fabrics, tapes, sleevings and sewing threads. Because the fibres are flexible, continuous and strong, textiles can be produced without the aid of other fibers or wire inserts.

Nextel rovings from 3M are designed to meet the toughest thermal, mechanical and electrical performance requirements. They are heat and oxidation resistant; and chemically resistant, lightweight, electrically insulating and flexible.

Applications

  • Reinforcement fibre for high temperature composites
    • Polymer matrix
    • Metal matrix
    • Ceramic matrix
