3M™ PTFE Film Tape 5490 uses an extruded polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film backing, which has an extremely low coefficient of friction, in combination with a pressure sensitive silicone adhesive to create non-stick surfaces over a variety of substrates.
Our extruded film backing resists curling when unwound from the roll and lies flatter than skived PTFE film tapes, creating a more uniform non-skid surface. Its thicker backing extends the useful life of the tape against abrasion and wear. We developed this high strength tape as a quick and easy solution to reduce friction between moving surfaces. It serves as an anti-stick or easy-release medium between surfaces where pressure, temperature changes and other factors may create a measure of adhesion.
