3M™ Double Coated Urethane Foam Tape 4016 is a thick, double-coated open-cell urethane foam tape with a 62 lb. densified kraft paper liner and is ideal for applications such as mounting interior signage and nameplates. Its 62 mil foam provides handling convenience and cushioning.

We manufactured this tape using our 3M™ Adhesive 100 for a strong, permanent bond that works with the open-cell foam structure to provide you with high shear strength. This tape is a great solution for bonding various surfaces indoors or for exterior applications where it will be protected from the environment. Its conformable foam and adhesive combine to provide long-term holding at temperatures up to 200°F/93°C. The acrylic adhesive is an ideal formula for bonding to various types of surfaces for mounting, joining and holding applications. By using a robust 62 lb. densified kraft paper release liner, this tape provides reliable performance for industrial applications, such as die-cutting and automated dispensers. The liner also helps reduce edge roll and protects the tape from humidity extremes.

Open cell foams are commonly used to create separate between component panels where a degree of separation is needed to dampen or prevent vibration, as a thermal insulation barrier and protect against contamination, but where a measure of airflow is still necessary, such as with electronic components where air flow helps keep components cool.
